Mary Elkins is a ceramic and fiber artist who focuses on memory, motherhood and domesticity. She makes work in her home studio. There she keeps worn out clothes for future pieces, her clay and her kiln.
After growing up in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Mary studied Ceramics at the University of Arkansas. She earned her MFA in Craft/Material Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. Mary teaches Art at Cedarville Elementary and Middle Schools in Cedarville, Arkansas. Van Buren is where she lives with her husband Daniel, their three kids and two cats.
